Why Fitness Optimization
Movement is one of the cornerstones of health both physically and mentally. Functional medicine providers incorporate the science behind exercise quantity and types to reverse disease and to promote well-being.
Functional Medicine & Fitness Optimization
Athletes understand the benefits of exercise and they may see their bodies as fine-tuned instruments that help them perform at a level that is competitive or that is helping them reach a new goal. Even if you are not a competitive athlete, you may have a goal to reach a new level of fitness or to attain a new exercise goal and recognize fitness is not dictated solely by the amounts and types of exercise you do. Injury avoidance, efficient cellular energy production, and optimization of muscle recovery are required to improve the endurance and strength often necessary to move forward with new goals.
Spire Health Pathways’ staff will collaborate with you to help understand your genetics around risk for tendon and ligament injury, and muscle soreness, and review dietary needs for energy production and muscle repair and building. Cortisol evaluation is important to assess the potential for stress (physical, environmental, and emotional) to limit muscle growth and size. Testing to assess adequate testosterone production should be evaluated in both men and women due to its importance in muscle response to activity and muscle strength.
You may desire to have a team that helps support you with your goals including a personal trainer, physical therapist, functional medicine provider, or kinesiologist who can work collaboratively with you toward reaching your fitness aspirations.
