Why Nutrition & Diet Management
Food is Medicine! This is the belief of all functional medicine professionals, and we know that if food acts as medicine to reverse symptoms it must play a significant role in preventing illness to begin with. We recognize that most people are aware that changes have happened in our soil and farming practices that may negatively affect nutrient quality and that increased use of pesticides and other chemicals may play a role in chronic illnesses. This can leave many of us wondering, “what do I eat.”
Functional Medicine & Nutrition & Diet Mangement
Our providers will meet with you to assess your overall health with baseline testing of thyroid, blood cell, liver, and kidney functions as well as analysis of your insulin use, vitamins, and cholesterol testing. We will get to know you and your family history to determine if there are any genetic risks that we should be aware of and in a collaborative process decide on whether you will benefit from nutrigenomic and micronutrient testing which will specifically look at your body’s use of nutrients and what may need to be enhanced to keep you in good health. Using science-driven information, your provider will evaluate your history and labs to help you understand the best foods for you. We will help connect you with a nutritionist if you need further refinement of your dietary plan due to allergies, food sensitivities, or other limiting factors.
While functional medicine is often used to help reverse illnesses, it is also best used to help people to optimize and keep the health they already have.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will instruct his patients in care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” – Thomas Edison
